A concentrated and complex wine with cooked red fruits, vanilla and milk chocolate aromas. It is medium bodied with more dark fruit and raisin flavours, leading to a bitter cherry grainy finish. One-hundred-year-old bush vines produce just two tons of tiny concentrated berries per hectare. After a long slow fermentation, 8 Rosas Negras was matured in new oak (70% French and 30% American) for eight months. Raúl Garcia and Grace Li fell in love with the estate when they began buying wines from it for the Chinese market. When the previous owners decided to retire, they took on the role of “carers” of the magical old vines at El Pego, in the southernmost and highest part of DO Toro.
