The Beaujolais cru village of Juliénas is known for its firmer, fuller-bodied Gamay grown on steep southerly slopes of weathered granite and clay. The 2024 from Domaine Sancy needs a little time but is already very pleasant with its vibrant red and blackberry fruit, its lingering spiced notes and its finely structured, sinewy tannins. 2026-2033–JB
This Chénas is a little fuller in body and more firmly structured than is typical for the cru. Restrained tart red and blue fruit mingle with earthy, peppery and herbal notes. Bright acidity keeps it brisk, while firm tannins add grip. A little closed now but offers good depth and moderate aging potential. 2026-2033–JB
A St. Amour with the cru’s signature elegance, though marginally firmer in structure. Tangy red berries mingle with floral and peppery undertones; lively acidity lifts the fruit and leads into a brisk, fresh finish, highlighting its bright, food-friendly character.
