Antichello Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, 2016

Ruby in colour, this is an Amarone with intense cedary, pencil lead and spicy oak characters which dominate raisined fruit aromas. On the palate it is rich and succulent with more fruit making a presence, ripe cherries and red apples with a spicy oak seasoning. A tremendously persistent wine, delicious to drink now and which will continue to mature. Grapes were grown in the hills around Fumane in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area. These were dried for three months before pressing, with 100 kilos of grapes yielding just 40 litres of super sweet grape must. It was matured for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
