A rich, concentrated nose with Syrah's beefy spice framed by powerful new oak aromas including vanilla, sawdust, clove and sandalwood. Classic black fruit, including plum, cherry and berry, dominates the palate, though there is quite a lot going on in the background: black pepper mingles with coconut, clove, cinnamon, charred wood and coffee. This has developed into an expansive, authoritative wine with the structure dominating. Looking for a sparring partner to match filet just shown the Josper? Look no further. Drink Now– MP
Atticus Syrah, Premium Museum, Estate Grown, Margaret River
An appealing and now fully mature Shiraz - this seems to be much more than a year older than its sibling - and the tannins - surprisingly - are melded and support the fruit. Medium intensity on the nose with cherry and plum, the palate brings vanilla, wood smoke and black pepper, and the finish starts to strut some tertiary character with leather and dried strawberry coming to the fore in a beguiling fashion. Balance, depth and concentration are all there. At its apogee now. Drink Now – MP
