Don’t be alarmed by the ominous name. This full-bodied, highly aromatic gin is made with the edible black nightshade berry (Solanum nigrum) – not the poisonous and deadly nightshade (a.k.a. Atropa belladonna). The berries are infused after distillation, imparting a subtle sweetness and tart fruity flavours that compliment the classic juniper and spicy orris root notes nicely. Great over ice or add tonic to see the light lilac hue turn a vibrant raspberry colour.–JB
