Quite closed on the nose initially at the time of tasting, with some musky notes, it opened up nicely with some air to reveal a soft, medium bodied, flavoursome wine with juicy fruit flavours and a bitter cherry finish. Granera Alta refers to the site of an ancient granary which was converted to a vineyard in the mid 18th century. The south-south-west exposure, very high limestone content of the soil and the microclimate produce intense and powerful Barbera.
