Chateau Haut-Bergeron

Light golden yellow in colour, this has aromas of tea, raisins and spices. Sweet fruits, candy floss, spices and bitter orange emerge on the palate, leading to lingering flavours of dried apricots. A relatively light, refreshing style compared to previous vintages, there was less development of noble rot in 2020. Château Fontebride, owned by the Lamothe family, has six hectares on slopes on clay gravelly ridges in the village of Bommes. The vines, with an average age of 50 years, are on gravel soils over clay subsoil. Grapes were successively picked between 4-6 passages in the vineyard. Predominantly Sémillon with 5% each of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, it was matured in one-year-old oak barrels for a year.
