Chioccioli Fossivento Chianti Classico DOCG Chioccioli Altadonna Family Estate
Quite a plush, fruit-driven style of Chianti Classico, with small percentages of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah completing the Sangiovese core. Initially restrained on the nose with ripe dark fruit and subtle oaked aromas emerging with aeration. The palate is similarly fruity with notable depth of flavour, brisk acidity, and a bold, polished mouthfeel. Cedar and vanilla hints from 14 months ageing in French oak barrels are well integrated, adding complexity rather than overshadowing the fruit. 2025 – 2035 – JB

Chioccioli Fossifoco Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG Chioccioli Altadonna Family Estate
In 2015, prolonged heatwaves and drought swept the vineyards mid-summer making the vintage stand out for its ultra-ripe, heady character. The Fossifòco Chianti Classico Riserva from Chioccioli Altadonna is already quite mature, with notes of dried and baked dark fruit over nutty, savoury undertones. The palate remains very fresh, which offsets the dense, brooding palate structure, and lifts the chalky tannins. Quite dry with a very earthy finish. Drink now or hold for up to five years. 2023-2028 – JB
