Valtellina is known for both its classic red wines and its appassimento style, whereby grapes are allowed to raisin after harvest to concentrate flavours and acids. The Cinquanta cuvée combines fresh and dried grapes to yield a bold, perfumed red wine. Though already ten years of age, this 2013 shows a pleasing brightness of fruit that lifts the complex flavours nicely. Finishes dry with harmonious smoky, savoury nuances.
