Deep and vibrant in colour, the 2016 displays mellow dark fruit aromas with savoury notes of musk and a touch of leather. This is a supple wine with layers of flavour. It is initially silky, becoming grainier in the mouth. It is medium-bodied with lingering floral and red berry flavours. Following the successful 2015 vintage, winter was the warmest on record in France, provoking an early bud break.
Clos Cantenac AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Lighter in colour, the 2017 has savoury aromas with wood, hazelnut and walnut. It is supple and lighter-bodied with less mid-palate flesh, producing a more linear wine. The Bordeaux region was severely affected by frost in 2017. While the frost reduced total crop levels, it hit some harder than others: Clos Cantenac lost 50% of their crop.
Clos Cantenac AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Mellow, cooked cherry fruits combine with ginger, vanilla, allspice and a touch of incense. The palate is supple and smooth, with fresh red cherry flavours enhanced by its fine-grained texture. It is medium-bodied with long raspberry and red fruits on the finish. 2018 was marked by a glorious late summer.
