Clos du Chateau de Cadillac Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon AOC Cadillac Cotes de Bordeaux, 2016

This walled vineyard plot is located in what was the original orchard of the 13th century castle Château de Cadillac, built for the Duc de l’Éperon. The plot has been owned by the Darriet family since the late 19th century. Clos du Château de Cadillac 2016 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, from 35 to 40-year-old vines cultivated on limestone soils. Supple, with cherries, cranberries and menthol notes, this wine is elegant with fine tannins. It is on the lighter side of medium bodied and was matured in oak barrels for 18 months. Perfectly ready for drinking, it should stay at its peak for some years.
