The Coroa Vermelha Reserva ferments in the traditional Douro manner: in shallow, open-topped granite and schist vats called lagares. The blend is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Great care was obviously taken at each stage given the result. This red is weighty and concentrated yet very fresh with layers of fruity, herbal, spiced flavours and fine-grained tannins. 2023-2030.–JB
