Bright lemon hue. Some Sicilian whites can have something of an oily texture, but this one, made from the highly rated Carricante grape, is characterised by impressive freshness and purity of fruit – perhaps to be expected from organically grown grapes. Pale lemon hue. Orchard, tropical, mineral – this nose has got it all. The palate offers up a well-judged and satisfying core of citrus fruit that perseveres through the long, ripe finish. Lemon, lime, tangerine and a hint of gooseberry make an impressive stand, proving that Cataratto has moves. 2026-2028–MP
