Winemaker Giles Cooke, MW, describes the El Primero Rioja as an “unashamedly contemporary style of Rioja that relies not on oak or age but on quality of fruit.” The winemaking touch is subtle here, with whole-bunch fermentation and ageing in seasoned oak. The result is a heady, fruit forward, floral Garnacha and Tempranillo blend with a deliciously brisk, juicy, full-bodied palate. 2025-2030–JB
