De Manzanos Blanco DOCa, Rioja, 2021

Bodegas Manzanos at Azagra, in Rioja Oriental, is a fifth-generation family-run winery founded in 1890. Victor and David Manzanos farm vineyards in all three subregions of Rioja. Three hundred hectares are owned by the family and 700 are under their management. Many of the vineyards are farmed organically. The 2021 Viura has intense fermentation aromas of pear drops and banana complemented by a crisp acidity. The Viura grape, used to make White Rioja, is the same as Macabeo grown in other regions of Spain and is a major component in Cava.
