Domaine des Remizieres AOP Saint Joseph, 2019

A stunning wine. Almost black in colour, Domaine des Remizieres 2019 Saint-Joseph has intense aromas of black cherries, blackcurrant and sweet vanilla. The same intensity of fruit carries through to the palate. It is medium bodied with delicious mellow fruits and vanilla flavours that dawdle in the mouth. It spent 15 months in barrel with 30% new oak. Saint-Joseph sometimes gets negative press for “stretching” the Appellation into less suitable sites with a resulting diminution in its wines: this just goes to show that you mustn’t tar everyone with the same brush.
