Domaine des Remizieres Cuvee Emilie Rouge AOP Hermitage, 2020

A dense concentrated wine, it is deep-plum purple in colour. Matured for 15-18 months in new oak barrels, it has an intensely toasty oak aroma with coffee and vanilla. On the palate, more chocolate character emerges complemented by black cherry fruits. It is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins densely knit giving a slightly grainy texture on the finish. Hermitage is one of the Rhône Valley’s – and France’s – most prestigious Appellations. Hermitage vineyards on the left bank of the Rhône are on a small south-facing hillside close to the town of Tain l’Hermitage. At this point in the river, the Rhône flows west to east before bending again and flowing southwards towards the Mediterranean Sea.
