Mourvèdre is most commonly found as a minority player in red wines from the Rhône. But this sun- and heat-loving grape, really at home by the Mediterranean Sea,has its finest wines produced in Bandol. 2018 Dupuy de Lôme is a savoury wine with complex aromas – meaty notes of calfskin and warm puppy – herbs and vetiver, a member of the grass family. The mid palate is quite light and supple fruits, leading to a grippy finish with dark fruits and savoury leathery flavours. It is a blend of 90% Mourvèdre and 10% Grenache and was matured for 18 months in large old oak vats.
