Floral aromas of rose petal and violets mingle with aniseed, earth and sooty notes. It is medium-bodied with good mid-palate fruit. Similar floral flavours in the mouth precede a grippy chocolate finish. Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet is a smallish Appellation bordering, and to the north of, Gigondas. Vines are planted on red clay sand soils containing 60% rolled pebbles.
