Intense spicy oak, coconut and vanilla are layered over sweet red cherry fruit aromas. The oak is less dominant on the palate, which reveals nice black and red fruit flavours. This is a complex wine with a long black cherry finish. 70% of the wine was fermented in egg-shaped concrete tanks and the balance in 500-litre French oak barrels. After completion of the malolactic fermentation, the two components were combined and matured a further 12 months in the concrete eggs.
