Producer

Chateau Rauzan Gassies

Gassies is produced from young vines on the Rauzan-Gassies estate, one of five second-classed growths in the Margaux Appellation. Aromas of ripe red fruits, plum, mulberry and lavender lead to a medium-bodied, but relatively light wine. Supple in attack, some grippy tannins come through, producing a firm, yet balanced wine with mid-palate fruit. It is a blend of 88% Merlot with just 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. The estate has a total of 60 hectares with approximately 30 hectares in Margaux and 30 hectares classified Haut-Médoc. Gassies is mainly made from younger Margaux vines on deep and sandy gravel soils.
