The Froehn Grand Cru is located mid slope in the commune of Zellenberg; its wines are generally opulent and fruit-forward in style. This 2019 Gewurztraminer has pretty pâtisserie-type notes, gaining in richness and exotic overtones on the palate. A full-bodied, luscious wine with moderate freshness and a sweet, soft finish. 2023-2029 – JB
Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Osterberg, AOC Alsace
Though Riesling is the most planted and renowned grape on the Grand Cru Schoenenbourg slope, the small amount of land dedicated to Gewurztraminer also yields powerful, aromatic wines. This is a very well-balanced example with a bold, layered palate, subtle sweetness, and lively freshness. The flavours are rich, ripe, and highly complex. 2023-2031 – JB
Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Schoenenbourg
Located in the commune of Ribeauvillé, the southeastern facing Osterberg Grand Cru slope has a sandstone component to its limestone marl soils. This terroir is prized for the vibrancy and aromatic definition of its wines. Appealing exotic fruit, floral, and spice define this 2019 cuvée. The palate is round, medium bodied, and satiny in texture. Finishes off-dry. 2023-2027 – JB
