The Darling region also has a well-earned reputation for Shiraz, and the ripe, warm cooked fruit and spice in Groote Post’s 2020 has lots of appeal. It is a supple, smooth wine with good structure and lots of tannin. After fermentation in a combination of open-top and closed tanks, the wine was matured in 300-litre oak barrels with 25% new oak and a combination of both French and American oak. The oak is well integrated, combining seamlessly with the rich dark fruit flavours.
