Hopler Gruner Veltliner Kirchberg Qualitatswein - Lagenwein Burgenland, 2016

This is a rich, structured wine with lots of delicious tertiary flavours. Bright lime yellow in colour, it has lime, flint, smoke and floral aromas reminiscent of aged Riesling. The palate is mellow and rich in structure. Grown in the Kirchberg vineyard on 45-year-old vines, this land was originally planted in 1203 by Cistercian monks from Burgundy. The grapes were picked late, and the wine matured for six months in oak.
