Carignan was grown in two small vineyards planted over 100 years ago close to Tuchan. The plots have quite different soils, but both produce very low yields given the age of the vines. This is a full-bodied wine, dense and concentrated. Savoury aromas of wild green herbs and graphite dominate the fruit which is slightly hidden in the background but which comes through on the palate. This is a structured wine with some big chewy tannins.
