La Vina de La Cueva Colora Toledo Bodegas Garcia de Lara, 2018

Deep ruby in colour, La Cueva Colora 2018 has coconut aromas combined with cooked plums and stewed forest fruits. It is a medium- to full-bodied wine with a supple mid palate leading to some firm tannins on the finish. Fresh ripe strawberry and blackberry flavours unfurl on the palate. This 60-year-old plot at La Cueva Colora in Toledo, close to Madrid, is owned by Miguel García de Lara and his brothers and sisters. Together they are slowly reviving the family’s century-old vineyards while most of their neighbours are uprooting vines to plant other crops.
