Located southwest of San Javier in Maule, Las Veletas, owned by Raúl Dell’Oro, who works with partner and winemaker Rafael Tirado, has 200 hectares of vines. Maule is one of Chile’s oldest regions and the property includes some 60 to 70-year-old País vines. Much of the estate consists of more recent plantings, over the last twenty years, of more noble varieties. The estate is impressive, and both Raúl and Rafael are visionary and innovative in their use of technology. Solar panels are currently used as the energy source for the vineyard drip irrigation.
