Le Chardonnay Grand Vin Casablanca Valley, 2018

Despite a large proportion being fermented in oak barrels, the Grand Vin is not an overtly oaky wine. Instead, it has aromas of nectarines and passion fruit. It is soft and smooth on the palate with more stone fruits, slightly unripe nectarine and lemon flavours. It is well balanced with medium weight and a long elegant finish. Chardonnay was picked on March 23 and 24, 2018, whole bunch pressed and the juice left to settle. Nearly half the juice was fermented then matured in a combination of new to four-year-old barrels, the balance in a conical oak tank.
