Le Rival AOC Lussac-Saint-Emilion, 2015

Lot

2928

Grape Variety

Merlot

Producer

Vintex

From the exceptional 2015 vintage, this is drinking nicely now and has plenty of potential for cellaring. Mellow ripe fruit aromas with mulberries and vanilla. It is supple with red fruits, vanilla and toasty flavours. Medium in body with some grip on the finish. The vineyard is on the archaeological site of Villa Lucciacus where vines were cultivated by the Romans. The owners of Vintex are the owners of that beautiful plot of 60-years-old vines and the wines are made by Stephan Von Neipperg, the owner of famed Saint-Emilion First Growth Châteaux Canon-la- Gaffelière and La Mondotte. According to Stephan, the soils are similar to the Premier Grands Crus Classes soils in Saint-Émilion, and within the property he identified two exceptional plots producing Cuvée Le Rival in the best vintages.
