Les Griffons de Pichon Baron AOC Pauillac Chateau Pichon Baron, 2016

Lot

1936

Grape Variety

Cabernet Sauvignon

Producer

Château Pichon-Longueville

2016 is another great vintage for Les Griffons following the successful 2015. This is a complex wine, elegant and understated, yet powerful and rich – the haute couture of wine. Intense black cherry aromas are complemented with coffee liqueur and chocolate. This wine has a soft fine texture with fine tannins, red cherries and blackcurrants, creating a smooth flavoursome palate. Vines are cultivated on deep gravelly soils close to the Gironde estuary where Cabernet Sauvignon grows best. The long Indian summer in 2016 allowed for leisurely picking. This blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot was matured in French oak barrels for 18 months, with 60% new.
