St-Nicolas de Bourgueil Les VII Arpents de la Chapelle aux Vignes AOP Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgeuil
Interesting aromas of blackberry compote, floral violets with a touch of fresh tobacco lead to a supple palate. It has nice sweet mid-palate fruit and is medium bodied with a fine texture. This is 100% Cabernet Franc, grown on sand and gravel soils around Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgeil. Fresh blackberry and other dark fruit flavours are complemented by grassy notes.

Saumur Champigny Sous le Château AOP Saumur-Champigny
Also a 100% Cabernet Franc wine, vineyards for Saumur Champigny lie on the opposite side of the river to Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgeuil, on the southern bank of the Loire. Soils are characterized by the presence of limestone and tufa which help to regulate water supply to the vines by absorbing excess water and holding it for use during dry periods. Ripe and cooked fruit aromas of blackberries and blueberries are apparent. Initially supple on the palate, this leads to a firm acidity with flavours of sour cherries and red apples and a slightly austere finish.
