Riesling performs particularly well on the Muehlforst slopes: this is a fantastic example, with an appealing contrast of tart and ripe fruit flavours underscored by floral, spiced, and earthy nuances. The palate is weighty yet satiny smooth, with invigorating acidity, and a precise, dry finish. 2023-2030 – JB
Pinot Gris Lieu-Dit Muehlforst AOC Alsace Cave Vinicole de Hunawihr
Well-ripened Pinot Gris from a sunny Alsatian vineyard can take on a lovely complexity of mixed spices and ripe fruit. This is certainly the case here. The 2020 Muehlforst starts discreet but builds quickly to an alluring array of baking spice, orchard, stone fruit, and floral tones. The palate is ample and rounded, with a glossy texture. Finishes subtly sweet with balanced freshness. Drink soon while this delicate harmony remains. 2023-2026 – JB
Gewurztraminer Lieu-Dit Muehlforst AOC Alsace Cave Vinicole de Hunawihr
Hallmark Gewurztraminer aromas of lychee and roses are in abundance on the nose. Upon aeration, spiced, nutty, tropical nuances emerge and carry over to the palate. The is a medium-bodied white wine with modest freshness and a soft mouthfeel. Finishes off-dry with subtle, grapefruit-like bitters. 2023-2026 – JB
