La Morra is a subregion in the west of the Barolo DOCG with vineyards planted between 200-500 metres on calcareous marl soils. Malvirà’s single vineyard, Boiolo, is a small plot of 0.89 hectare planted between 370-400 metres, which faces east. The rich soil is calcareous clay with good water-holding capacity. The 2016 is youthful with sweet red berries, vanilla and balsamic notes. It is smooth and round with a grainy chewy finish and cherry menthol flavours. It was matured for 24 months in oak barrels.
