Maso Maroni
Maso Maroni is a small winery in the heart of Valpolicella wine region, the Valpantena valley, northern of Verona. The valley is also called “the valley of the gods” because it is very fertile and rich in spring water and rivers which give the typical green colour of this valley. The most diffused soils are red scale and biancone. Vineyards are exposed south-east and south-west and the land is rich in organic substance. We produce here the typical Valpolicella wines which result in fresh and vibrant wines, easy to drink. Sustainability is the key word in our estate and we are convinced it is the right direction both environmentally and socially; that’s why we are part of the Valpolicella RRR project: Reduce, Retrench, Respect. For example, we abolished the use of herbicides and adopted high performance and precise irrigation system to reduce water waste. Our winery is the only one in all Valpolicella wine region which works with the system of vinification per gravity. This means that we don’t use pumps in the time between grape and most. The berries are not crushed and only the stalk is taken away, the berry remains intact and falls for gravity in the tank. Here, berries break alone with the natural movements of fermentation. Indeed, Maso Maroni wants to express our territory through the wines: fermentations are conducted through indigenous yeasts and with controlled temperatures, ageing is in oak or in steel tanks and the main aroma nuances are always representative of the original grapes.
