Brunello di Montalcino is one of Italy’s most famed wine-producing regions, renowned for the quality and richness of its Sangiovese-based wines. The climate in this small region is slightly warmer than it is in Chianti, resulting in the creation of wines with riper fruit and broader, firmer tannins than would be typical in the Chianti region, which lies slightly to the north. This pair of wines demonstrate both Brunello’s typicity as well as the generosity of fruit and structure associated with the warm 2020 and 2021 vintages. They will repay cellaring in order to allow them to open up and reveal their rich complexity to the full.

MOLINO DI SANT'ANTIMO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG, 2020

Medium ruby hue. What a hedonistic wine this is! Fleshy, generous tannins are already beginning to integrate nicely into the body of the wine, lending a framework to opulent red cherry and plum fruit tinged with cigar smoke. Should age well. Needs food! 2027-2035–NH

MOLINO DI SANT'ANTIMO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO DOCG, 2021

Deep ruby hue. Appealingly aromatic nose full of vibrant red cherries and orange peel, accompanied by underlying earthy
tones and dried herbs. The maturing palate has character, displaying brown earth, dried cranberry, and dried flower bouquet. Concentrated and, therefore, well-equipped to support the high tannin and acidity levels, making this a definite keeper for the next ten years. 2028-2036–HM
