To be honest, I find these two wines remarkable. From the Aude Valley, best known for inexpensive French plonk, they just show what is possible if you understand the Pinot Noir grape and take the time to find cooler, mountain sites to plant
the vines. This is a pair of high-class wines, showcasing the perfume and purity of fruit of this wonderful grape - refined
by highly sensitive winemaking.
MONTSABLÉ PINOT NOIR, IGP HAUTE VALLÉE DE L'AUDE, 2024
Medium cherry red. For those who might think that France's Aude Valley might be too hot for the sensitive Pinot Noir grape, this will be a welcome surprise. It offers attractive red fruit flavours supported by notes of grilled nuts from oak ageing – nicely balanced, not too heavy and most refreshing. 2026-2028–RB

MONTSABLÉ RESERVE PINOT NOIR, IGP HAUTE VALLÉE DE L'AUDE, 2024
Medium ruby hue. Impressive Pinot Noir from a part of France not normally associated with this fragile grape. Ripe and
flavoursome, with well-judged oak, it has moderate tannin and a structure to suggest that it will continue to improve for a year or three yet. 2026-2029–RB
