Poggio Grande is a small family-run organic estate with six hectares of vines tended to by Luca Zamperini and his daughter Giuletta. Sesterzo Orcia is a medium- to full-bodied wine with intense pure cassis aromas and sour blackberry flavours. It is fine in texture, concentrated and well balanced. Produced 100% from Sangiovese Grosso coming from a single vineyard. The vineyard sits at 480 metres with southeastern exposition. After fermentation in-tank, it was matured for 30 months in large French oak casks and traditional “botti,” but the focus of this wine is really on fruit.
