Rubén Ramos is a family-run winery at Peñafiel, with impressive views of the ancient 200-metre-long Peñafiel Castle. The Ramos family’s vineyards, owned for four generations, sit beneath the castle on sandy clay loam soils with limestone. This is one of the hottest parts of the region. The 2019 Roble has aromas of musk with soot and a touch of sawdust. The wine is aged in new and second-use French and American oak barrels for nine months and is structured, with a grainy texture and sour cherry flavours.
