The Scheurebe grape shows good expression grown at higher elevations on limestone-rich soils around the village of Herxheim am Berg. Aromas of fresh apples and grapefruit with some flint and wet stone lead to a smooth apricoty palate with firm acidity and a long, crisp finish. A crossing between Riesling and Bouquet Blanc, the Scheurebe grape variety was created by Dr. Georg Scheu in 1916. After some years of being pulled out of vineyards, it has recently been garnering renewed attention.
