The Massif du Coiron is a result of volcanic activity and erosion over the ages: basalt rock from volcanic lava forms the basis for vineyard soils. Syrah grown on basalt around Alba-la-Romaine has produced a wine with dark fruits and chocolate aromas. It is medium-bodied with sour berry flavours, firm acidity and tannins on the finish.
