My favourite of the 2020 wines produced by Cantina Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano. It is plum in colour with floral notes of rose. It is medium-bodied with a fine silky texture complemented by a firm acidity. Flavours of ripe cherries and cooked red fruits create a wine with depth – delicious now and in the coming years. Sangiovese (a.k.a. Morellino) grown at 150 metres above sea level was picked at full phenolic maturity. Post fermentation and maceration on skins, the wine was matured in one- and two-year-old French oak barrels for six months.
