Chioccioli Altadonna Family Estate

Trebbiano is a common white grape variety in Tuscan vineyards. Its bright acidity and fairly neutral character make it an excellent base wine for vermouth production. Enrico Chioccioli Altadonna is the master distiller at his family’s Winestillery project. To make this dry vermouth, he first fortifies the fermenting Trebbiano with a neutral grape spirit before infusing it with traditional Tuscan botanicals and ageing the wine in seasoned French oak barrels. The exact mix of botanicals used to aromatize the wine is a carefully guarded secret. On the nose, intriguing notes of orange marmalade, Earl Grey tea, stone fruit and white spice feature. The palate is warming and broad, with mouthwatering grapefruit pith bitters that give lovely freshness to the finish. 2023-2026 – JB
