Dense purple in colour, the 2018 has musky aromas with black fruits in the background. This is a supple, smooth wine, fine in texture with lots of fruit flavours. It has good mid-palate weight and a slightly chewy finish giving structure and presence in the mouth. Not yet at its peak, it should mature nicely. It is a blend of 40% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon with 20% Sangiovese. The name – Morcinaia – comes from Umbrian dialect and refers to a pile of stones recuperated from the ground in preparing and working vineyard soils.
