Solar Viejo Crianza DOCa. Rioja Bodegas Solar Viejo
After a rainy winter, the growing season in 2016 was extremely dry. Tempranillo in the higher altitude sites was picked around October 10th. After fermentation, the wine was matured for 12 months in American and French oak barrels, conferring mellow coconut and vanilla aromas. It is medium bodied with more red fruit flavours coming through on the palate alongside more coconut. It has a tangy acidity and soft finish.

Solar Viejo Reserva DOCa. Rioja Bodegas Solar Viejo
Matured for 12 months in oak, the 2014 Reserva has vanilla spice and nutmeg aromas in the foreground with dark fruits behind. It is a blend of Tempranillo with 30% Graciano – a variety that is notoriously difficult to grow but which produces interesting dark perfumed wines with high natural acidity. In the mouth, soft fruit flavours with raisins, figs and dried fruits emerge, creating a complex wine which remains lively due to its fresh acidity.

Mas de Subira VI de Guarda DOQ Priorat Bodegas Viticultors del Priorat
A blend of 50% Cariñena and 50% Garnacha, the varieties were harvested separately by hand into small 18-kilo boxes. After a second sorting at the winery, grapes were destemmed, fermented in tank then matured in 300-litre French oak barrels for 18 months. Mas de Subira 2017 is a savoury wine with aromas of wild herbs and meat. It is pure and linear in structure with treacle and raisin flavours with a bright, vibrant acidity. A wine with great depth of flavour, the oak is integrated and seamless. Wines have been produced by Judit Llop since 2003. Daughter of a vigneron in Tarragona, Judit worked for Bodegas Torres in Spain and Viña Errazuriz in Chile before joining Bodegas Morlanda.
