Most of vines for this wine are over 100 years old with 40% of the wine having spent 10 months in second- and third-fill barrels. A black purple ruby, opaque robe. The nose features a broad range of medium-intensity lifted aromas of tar, smoke, black olive/lardo, coffee wafers, hazelnut-cocoa spread and vanilla. It is dry and has a medium acidity, a medium-plus extract, medium-plus fine-textured tannins and a medium-plus body. It has a nice length and a medium-plus persistence of floral (perhaps peony), creamy, tar, smoky, vanilla and lardo flavours, closing with a medium-plus finish. This has a poise and a presence and is quite long. 2024-2030–IR
