A savoury, earthy wine with aromas of smoke, marmite, and meat. Some floral notes emerge in the background. This is a grippy wine with tannins, giving a grainy texture and leading to a chewy finish. The dark fruits present are somewhat overshadowed with blackcurrant flavours emerging on the finish. A traditional vinification process in concrete tanks with 25% of stalks no doubt help add to the grip. The 45-year-old vines are cultivated on pink granite soils with veins of manganese.
Chateau de Durette Les Fournelles AOP Cote de Brouilly
Floral aromas with parma violet and rose combine with red fruits and herbal notes. It is relatively light on the palate with a firm acidity dominating, followed by a redcurrant finish. Vines are planted on an east-facing slope with 30% gradient. Soils contain blue andesite rocks and stones.
