The 20- to 30-year-old vineyards of this wine comes from have soils similar to Chateauneuf’s with large gravel also known as “pudding stones.” It is deep purple and opaque in the glass. The nose shows medium-intensity multi-dimensional aromas of walnut essence, speck/cured meat, game, lard, black olive tapenade, blood orange and Cornelian cherry preserves and floor varnish. It is dry with a medium-minus acidity, a medium extract, medium-minus fine textured tannins and a medium body with lovely length and intensity of Cornelian cherry preserve, walnut, cured meat, floral notes, black olive tapenade and blood orange, and a medium-plus finish. Quite pretty and engaging. 2025-2027–IR
