Vina La Rosa SA

This estate at Peumo in the Cachapoal valley is one of the oldest in Chile. Established in 1824, it is still owned and run by the Ossa family. The wines imported for Opimian members come from the small, isolated valley of Cornellana, a pristine natural environment for the propagation of vineyards. Cooled by Pacific breezes and positioned to take best advantage of the sun's rays, these vineyards produce wines that exhibit the rich fruit of mature vines, well-balanced acids and elegant complexity. Pruning in winter and canopy management throughout the spring and summer encourage a concentration of flavours.Recently, Peumo has been recognized as one of the best locations in Chile for growing top quality Carmenère – the grape is very late ripening and is not suitable for planting everywhere. It loves the colluvial soils and extended summer season in Cachapoal. Cornellana wines are made only from estate grown grapes by winemakers Gonzalo Cárcamo, Cynthia Ortiz and Juan Carlos Acevedo.
