From humble beginnings in 2022, Monte Castelon has rocketed to become our best-selling Veneto red. With a difficult vintage like 2024 in their sights, Silvano and Maurizio wasted no time in selecting only the very best grapes and discarding the rest. This is as filigree as red wine can ever be — and it is unmissable.

Monte Castelon are on the cover of C336 for a reason: organic high-altitude Valpolicella from a 4th-generation family who think of themselves as farmers first.  

Medium ruby hue. Slender, aromatic nose of cherry stones and linseed oil followed by vanilla. The mid-palate grabs attention with its focus, concentration and velvety harmony. Fine, ripe tannins elegantly wrap around savoury spices and sweet fruit, leading to a bold, black pepper-inspired finish. At 16%, the balance is sublime, and the acidity is not found wanting.
