The Bobal grape comes from Utiel-Requena. It is the most widely planted variety in the region and the second most grown black grape in Spain after Tempranillo. Recently, its reputation has been improving. Biftu 2017 has aromas of cooked berry fruits and raspberry jam. It is soft and light on the palate with fresh berry fruit flavours and crushed cherries, leading to a bitter cherry finish. Grapes were grown on old bush vines with an average of 55 years of age. The wine was matured for five months in barrels produced from Hungarian and French oak.
